4 Ways To Slash Your Grocery Bill By Meal Planning!

You’ve probably heard the saying “The best way to save money is to not spend it in the first place”. That’s certainly true when it comes to groceries, but how do you actually stop spending money on food while enjoying it? Meal planning can help. This technique allows you to plan out your meals before shopping so that you don’t buy unnecessary items or waste non-perishables. 

Here are four ways you can slash your grocery bill by meal planning.

Plan a weekly menu.

If you’re not planning your menus, it is time to start.

Planning a weekly menu saves money. The first reason that planning a weekly menu is beneficial is that it helps you spend less on groceries! By planning out your meals for the week, you can make sure that only what you need goes into the cart at checkout—saving both time and money.

Set a budget and stick to it.

This is the most important part of meal planning!

Before you begin looking at recipes, figure out how much money you want to spend on groceries each week. If your grocery bill is too high, try setting aside $10-$20 at the beginning of each week for meal prep food and snacks so that when it comes time for lunch or dinner, there’s something easy and healthy already made waiting in the fridge!

Make a grocery list and follow it.

The easiest way to save money while grocery shopping is by making a list and following it. While it sounds simple, many people don’t write down what they need before heading to the grocery store. 

Shopping less and more efficiently helps with budgeting.

We’re not going to lie: this is the part of meal planning that will probably take the most effort. It’s also the biggest payoff in terms of saving money.

It may seem counterintuitive, but shopping less often can actually help you save money. The more often you go shopping, the more likely it is that you’ll end up buying things impulsively (and yes, I’m saying this from personal experience!).

Grocery store shopping can be a stressful experience. The best way to take the stress out of it is by planning your meals and sticking to a budget. You’ll save money and feel better about yourself in the long run!
