How To Become A Vegan
Choose Your Why!
Most people pick a reason that resonates with them and is easy to stick to long-term. For example, if you’re an animal lover and feel strongly about helping the environment, you may gravitate towards the ethical reasons for being vegan.
If you have issues with your cholesterol or blood sugar, or suspect you have a food allergy like lactose intolerance, you may be drawn to the health benefits of eating vegan. If you care deeply about environmental justice, global warming and climate change might make going vegan an obvious choice for you.
Other people choose to go vegan for spiritual or religious reasons. Certain religions place a high importance on compassion toward all living beings and avoid harming animals as much as possible. Some believe we should not eat meat so that we can focus on our spiritual needs during our short time in this world rather than spending energy on breaking down animal proteins.
Still others are drawn to the physical benefits of being vegan: many people report having more energy, losing weight, having shinier hair and stronger nails (from eating healthy whole foods), and building muscle more easily because they’re consuming more protein than ever before!
Choose Your Way to Vegan!
Stock Your Kitchen with Staples for Success!
A vegan diet has been shown to have a number of health benefits when practiced correctly. However, if you do not have easy access to healthy vegan meals, you may end up eating too many processed vegan foods or insufficient nourishment. When starting out as a vegan, it can be incredibly helpful to think about what types of staple ingredients and meals you will want to stock your kitchen with so that you can easily prepare meals throughout the week.
Some great staples include beans (especially lentils), tofu, tempeh, brown rice pasta, nutritional yeast and soy milk. It is also helpful to keep some fresh produce on hand such as fruits and vegetables for salads or smoothies. Some other staples that are important for making flavorful sauces and dressings include tamari (soy sauce), balsamic vinegar and tahini (sesame seed paste). It is also helpful to have plenty of spices in your pantry such as garlic powder, turmeric, cumin and chili powder because they will allow you to flavor food without using animal products.
Vegan, Gut health, Weight loss, Migraine headaches, Joint pain, and Energy!
In the past six years, I’ve been vegan for nearly two of them. And it has changed my life. I eat vegan because it is a healthier way to live. Whenever I start doing something healthy, like eating better or exercising more, there’s always an excuse to not continue with that behavior. But when you’re feeling so much better in every aspect of your life, you can’t find an excuse not to continue.
My whole life I have suffered from migraines and joint pain due to arthritis in my whole body (I have no cartilage in my knees and hips). Also, for as long as I can remember, depression has been a part of my life too. Nowadays I can’t remember the last time I had a headache or a migraine! And since starting on this path of health, I haven’t caught any other illnesses either. My joint pain is almost completely gone! Feeling this good has made me realize that if you are eating well then so many other problems seem to just disappear. The fewer chemicals we put into our bodies the better they function overall!
Eating plant-based food also helps us lose weight and keep it off because we are consuming fewer calories than before without even trying! When we do this our bodies start absorbing nutrients more efficiently without having to work as hard to digest meat products which makes digestion easier on our gut and improves our immune system by killing harmful bacteria that lives in animal protein products.
