When I look back on my journey towards a healthier lifestyle, I am proud of the decisions I made, even though they were not always easy. In high school, while my peers were clamoring for cars, I asked for a Solo Flex – an exercise machine. I was determined to lead a life of health and fitness, and it all began with that graduation present. 

However, my journey took a more serious turn when I became a vegetarian at the age of 19. This was not just a dietary preference; I suffered from leaky gut syndrome and debilitating migraines, and I found that the food I ate played a significant role in aggravating these conditions. Eating out with my friends was no fun, as I had to always be cautious of what I was eating. 

By my 30s, my migraines had become almost unbearable, and I was losing sight in my right eye. It was then that I decided to try a vegan diet, despite my skepticism. I was desperate for a solution, and to my surprise, the change in my diet worked wonders. After two weeks of strict adherence to the vegan diet, my migraines disappeared – something that had never happened before. I knew then that I would continue this lifestyle and never look back.

Grandma’s love for nutritious foods inspired me to lead a healthy lifestyle. Taking care of my physical and mental wellbeing has been a transformative journey.
